FUNDS

Established in 2006 by the members of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and the Plymouth School-to-Career Business Partnership, grants from this fund provide support for creative and innovative instructional practices not funded by the Plymouth Board of Education’s annual budget. Grants are awarded annually to teachers, principals, guidance counselors and other school personnel who seek to enhance student learning in the Plymouth Public Schools.

This fund was transferred to the Community Foundation from Terryville High School in 2003 to assist a graduating high school senior who is in good academic standing and is involved in community and school activities.

This scholarship was transferred to Main Street Community Foundation in 2023 by the Town of Plymouth Human Services Commission; it was originally established when the Plymouth VNA closed.

The Plymouth Library Association Inc. Fund was established by the Friends of the Plymouth Library in 1999 to provide ongoing support of the library and its programs. Since the Library's closing, this fund supports the Plymouth Historical Society's library room, which houses many collections and preserves historical documents that were located at the Plymouth Library.

This fund was established in December 2020 by longtime Plymouth residents Michael and Jeanine Audette and their daughters to honor the legacy of giving passed on by their families. This fund will support a variety of charitable organizations focused on education, basic needs, and social/gender issues.

Established by Donald and Betty Radcliff in 2002 to share their belief in the value of education by assisting high school graduates from the towns of Bristol and/or Plainville who are looking to further their education but are in need of financial assistance to do so.

Established in late 2006 with a charitable roll-over gift from retired Bristol businessman Donald Radcliff. The fund will assist male students from the senior class at Plainville High School who need financial assistance to pursue post-secondary education. Mr. Radcliff is most interested in helping the student who has a dream but may need help to achieve it.

This fund was established in early 2021 by family and friends, to honor the life of Rafi Hamzy, who passed away at the young age of 24 in 2020. Rafi loved the game of football both as a player and a coach. To honor his legacy, the fund’s advisors will recommend grants to charitable organizations that promote youth sports and education.

This scholarship fund honors the memory of Ralph Papazian who passed away unexpectedly in 1995.  Ralph was the former supervisor of athletics for the Bristol School System, a coach and physical education teacher. This fund, established in 2013, awards an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from Bristol Central High School or Bristol Eastern High School, on a rotating basis.

Ray Lassy, a longtime resident of Plymouth, established this scholarship fund in 2017 to assist students who have the same passion he did. Working for over 50 years in a field he loved, Ray started a small tool and die business in the basement of his parents’ house while working at a machining manufacturer. He eventually opened his own shop in Terryville before expanding the business to Ray Machine Corporation, also located in Terryville. Ray held several patents for parts he designed and tooled and was passionate about the work he did.

This fund was established in 2021 by the Greater Bristol Branch of the NAACP as part of the chapter’s goal of achieving equality through educational opportunities. The scholarship is named in memory of two trailblazers: Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; and Reverend Dr. Eddie C. Whitehead, a Bristol resident who was a community leader and one of the many community members and pastors who spearheaded the establishment of the Bristol NAACP back in 1985.

Transferred to the Community Foundation in 2002 by Bill and Pege DellaVecchia, the fund was first established in 1989 in memory of their son, Richard, who was killed in an automobile accident that year at the young age of 21. The fund awards scholarships to residents of Southington who are currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college with a major in nursing. Applicants must have a passion for the nursing field and must demonstrate leadership skills along with good character and citizenship.

Established in 2014, this fund honors the memory of Richard “Rit” Croce. A lifelong Bristol resident, Rit was well known for his teaching, contracting and mentoring. A scholarship will be awarded annually to an adult returning to school or a graduating senior to pursue post secondary education. Preference will be given primarily to adult learners pursuing a skilled trade or major in education.

This fund was established by Angie McCormack in 2002 as part of her late husband’s wishes to support students graduating from Southington High School who have been active members of the Southington Kiwanis Key Club. This award will assist these students in furthering their post secondary education.

This scholarship fund was established by The Bradley Family Foundation, Geri Ann Bradley and her family to honor her brother Ron Burns for his tireless community leadership and commitment to the youth members at the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol. This fund will assist members in good standing of the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol with the tuition costs of post-secondary or technical education.

Ron and Emilie Duhaime established this fund in 2003 in memory of Edgar and Dorothy Duhaime to reflect the family’s long standing commitment to supporting charitable causes in Bristol.

Susan and Ronald Sadecki established this fund in 2022 to honor their families and recognize Susan’s long-time commitment to the community foundation field. Grants from this fund will support a variety of charitable organizations, as recommended by the donors, primarily in the communities served by Main Street Community Foundation.

This fund was established in 2000 to assist families in need with children wishing to attend St. Matthew School in Bristol.

This fund, transferred to Main Street Community Foundation in 2014, was established to support the acquisition and purchase of books for the Bristol Public Library.

This trust, transferred to the Main Street Community Foundation in 2013, was originally established by bequest in 1973 by Samuel J. Goodsell. Distributions from this fund will be used for the care, maintenance, improvement, acquisition and extension of parks and playgrounds in Bristol, CT.
