2013 Women & Girls' Fund Grants
Since 2001, the Women & Girls' Fund has awarded program grants to organizations in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott to improve the lives of women and girls. In 2013, $30,760 in grants were awarded to the following causes, programs and projects:
Bristol Boys & Girls Club - $2,100
To support the purchase of supplies for the Smart Girls program
Bristol Community Organization - $3,000
To support a pilot program called Rx for Success in which selected mothers with children in Head Start will be assisted in gaining education to earn a living wage.
Bristol Girls Little League Softball - $3,500
To support pre-season skills and confidence building clinics for those involved in softball.
Bristol Technical Education Center - $3,643
To support the BTEC Girls’ Healthy Choices Program facilitated by Prudence Crandall it explores life choices for women pursuing a career in the technical field.
John & Gloria DiFrancesco Fund for Women ($365)

To support the Good Life Fitness for Women program in which low income elderly women receive individualized exercise interventions.

To support camperships for girls in our service area to attend Girl Scout camps in 2014.
Plymouth Family Resource Center/Education Connection - $525
To support the professional development of women in licensed home based child care
United Way of West Central CT/Bristol Early Childhood - $3,655
To support the Maternal Depression Screening Initiative which connects expectant and new mothers with the resources needed to address mental health issues.
Wheeler Clinic - $2,500
To support the Giving Girls Power through Gender-Based Education initiative by proving gender-specific reading and video resources to students
YWCA of New Britain - $2,000
To support a teen empowerment group at Plainville High School
Women & Girls Immediate Response Fund - $1,367
