Wonder of Women (WOW) Event to Feature Kara Sundlun of WFSB Channel 3

February 26, 2016 - The 15th Annual Wonder of Women (WOW) event, hosted by the Women & Girls’ Fund at Main Street Community Foundation, will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. The event will celebrate the Fund’s 15th anniversary of improving the lives of local women and girls and will feature WFSB Channel 3 television personality Kara Sundlun as the guest speaker.

Proceeds from the WOW event benefit the Fund’s annual grantmaking. In 2015, over $35,000 in grants supported 11 local organizations and initiatives that are improving the conditions and opportunities for women and girls in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington and Wolcott.

“This event provides our attendees the venue to network and support the Women & Girls’ Fund, which in turn allows us to advance the lives of women and girls in our communities,” stated Cathy Cassin, the WOW Event Chair. “And it promises to be a wonderful evening! We will celebrate the Fund’s 15th anniversary, recognize the impact the Fund has had throughout the years, hear from some inspiring speakers and announce a special giving opportunity.”

The guest speaker is Kara Sundlun of WFSB Channel 3. Kara is a two-time Emmy Award winning news anchor and talk show host, known for hosting the popular daytime talk show Better Connecticut. Kara is also the author of her inspirational memoir, Finding Dad: From Love Child to Daughter, where she shares the story of meeting her biological father Bruce Sundlun when she was a teenager and he was the Governor of Rhode Island.

Seats for this year’s event are $55 and are now available. The WOW event is sponsored by Barnes Group Foundation and MassMutual, as Premier Sponsors; KPMG and XFINITY, as a Presenting Sponsors; and several others businesses, organizations and individuals whose generous contributions are most appreciated.
