Susan was appointed President and CEO in January 2008 and is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for advancing the Foundation’s mission, fostering community partnerships, and ensuring the effective stewardship of philanthropic resources. She works closely with the board of directors, donors, and regional stakeholders to inspire impactful giving to meet evolving community needs in the Connecticut communities of Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Wolcott. She oversees the Foundation’s programs, operations, and investments. Additionally, she staffs the Executive, Asset Development, Board Development, and By-Laws Committees of the Foundation.

Prior to joining the Foundation, she was the Director of Business Development for Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. (ABH) in Middletown, CT where she was responsible for identifying new business opportunities, leading project implementations, contract administration, and preparation of concept papers and proposals. Prior to joining ABH, Susan was the Director of the Occupational Health Services Program at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington, CT. In that position, she was charged with developing the Occupational Health Services Program, negotiating contracts with preferred provider networks, and serving as the primary liaison between corporate clients and the hospital for effective delivery of all services. She started her career as a Senior Consultant with Ernst & Young LLP in their healthcare consulting group providing services to hospitals and other health care facilities primarily in the areas of financial feasibility studies, Certificate of Need applications, Medicare cost reports, and state budget filings.

Susan combines her passion for philanthropy and community collaboration with her business experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. She has been an executive, program director, and consultant in the philanthropic, healthcare, and human services field for nearly forty years. She is a Past Chair of the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce Board of Directors, Past Chair of the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy Community Foundation CEO Network and a past trustee for Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut. She has served as a volunteer for numerous nonprofit organizations and community committees including Bristol Technical Advisory Council, Bristol Technical Education Center Advisory Committee, mentor in the Bristol Public Schools, Boys and Girls Club of Bristol (BBGC) Humanitarian Committee, BBGC Youth of the Year Program, Bristol’s Ending Homelessness Task Force, Region 10 Coordinated School Health Team, Southington Community Stakeholders Committee, Tunxis Civic Engagement Institute Community Advisory Committee, Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation Grants Committee, among others. She is a member of the Board of Directors and a Corporator for Thomaston Savings Bank and serves as a Corporator for Bristol Hospital.

In 2019, Susan was honored by the United Way of West Central CT with the prestigious Spirit of Caring Award and in 2016 received the distinguished Golden Deeds Award from the Exchange Club. She earned her BS in Healthcare Administration from Stonehill College and a MBA from the University of Hartford.
