Improving the Lives of Burlington Residents: Main Street Community Foundation Awards Over $10,000 in Grants

Main Street Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $10,631 in grants to benefit the Burlington community. The grants were distributed from the Burlington Community Fund and the James R. Parker Trust, two funds that were established to meet the needs of local residents. The grants awarded are:

  • Burlington Historical Society - $941 - Support the purchase of a beer jockey box for use at community and the organization’s events and fundraisers. (James R. Parker Trust)
  • Burlington Land Trust - $1,200 – Support for the Burlington Pollinator Pathway project to purchase and install pollinator garden planters outside the senior housing units and town animal shelter. (James R. Parker Trust)
  • Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center - $1,500 – Support for the Imagine Nation Loves Burlington initiative that brings STEAM learning to Burlington residents through interactive workshops and offers Burlington residents free tickets to the Museum.   • Lewis S. Mills Crew Booster Club - $1,990 – Support to purchase two new Concept Erg rowing machines that will track performance, compare times, and show area of strength and improvement for each athlete. (James R. Parker Trust)
  • New Britain Museum of American Art - $3,000 – Support the Access to Arts: Burlington and Harwinton initiative for all 5th graders at Har-Bur Middle School to take a field trip to the Museum in spring 2026 for an immersive arts experience. (Burlington Community Fund)
  • Tavern Day Group - $2,000 – Support for the Celebrating 250 Years of America events and programming throughout 2026, including a book discussion, film viewing, Memorial Day Parade float, and Declaration of Independence reenactment event. (Burlington Community Fund)

While the Burlington Community Fund and the James R. Parker Trust were established decades apart, 2011 and 1970 respectively, the creation of these funds demonstrate the ongoing dedication to Burlington from its residents.
