NEPAL EARTHQUAKE DISASTER RELIEF

On April 25, 2015, the worst earthquake to hit Nepal in more than 80 years - a 7.9 magnitude earthquake - caused mass destruction with the epicenter located just 50 miles from the nation’s capital and largest city, Kathmandu. Officials estimate that several thousand have been killed and thousands more have been injured by this natural disaster.

How You Can Help

The Center for Disaster Philanthropy has compiled information on the Nepal earthquake and its current activities in helping the Nepalese. Among the Center for Disaster Philanthropy's current activities:

  • A robust information page about what has been learned about the earthquake and how international nongovernment agencies and donors are responding.
  • The activation of the Nepal Earthquake Recovery Fund. Money raised will support medium- and long-term rebuilding and recovery.

Several other organizations are aiding the relief efforts in Nepal. AmeriCares, the American Red Cross and CARE are only a few that are providing medical aid, relief supplies, shelter, food, water and hygiene. However, we urge you to first decide what type of impact means the most to you. All of the above organizations have a 3- to 4-star Charity Navigator Rating.
