Main Street Community Foundation serves as the court-appointed Trustee for the Dr. Ralph F. Long and Pearl A. Long Trust-Foundation. The Long Trust-Foundation was established in 1990 by longtime Terryville resident Dr. Ralph F. Long. Dr. Long moved to Terryville in 1923 and it was here that he met and married his wife Pearl. Upon moving to this town, he practiced family medicine in Terryville and Plymouth. He made house calls to families at the beginning of his career in a horse drawn buggy and by the end of it he was in a Cadillac. For 60 years he cared for families of this town and lived with his wife Pearl in a house just across the street from the middle school, which used to be the high school. The Longs were proud members of the Terryville community. Scholarships are awarded annually to support students pursuing post-secondary undergraduate education.
