This scholarship was established in 2004 by the children of Walter and Estelle Peterson at the request of their father. Estelle was the first police woman in Terryville and served as the town’s public health nurse for many years. The Petersons moved to Terryville after meeting during World War II when Walter was recuperating from a head wound and Estelle was the nurse.This scholarship will be given to a senior from Terryville High School interested in pursuing a career in nursing or a health-care related field.
