Dorothy Dewey Picard was a graduate of The Julliard School and was a well-known area music instructor for 64 years. In addition, she played in many area orchestras and was a founding member of the Bristol Symphony Orchestra. Upon her death in 1999, her daughter, Marcia White, established this scholarship to honor her mother’s lifelong love of music. Eligibility includes students pursuing some form of post secondary or special educational opportunity in the music field, including music studies and/or music education; preference for students entering or continuing their studies in the classical music field.
