This fund was established in early 2023 by the Bristol Board of Education in collaboration with the Bristol Police Department following the tragic events of October 12, 2022 when both Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy were killed in the line of duty. Dustin and Alex are forever honored and remembered for their selfless service and commitment to the Bristol community. Scholarships will be awarded annually to a graduating senior at Bristol Central High School and a graduating senior at Bristol Eastern High School who are pursuing a major in public safety or criminal justice.
