America 250 Celebrations in Your Community

America 250, also known as the United States Semiquincentennial, is the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the country.

It is being marked by series of events across the United States, including festivals, exhibits, reenactments, and programs. It is an opportunity for reflection on the ideals of the founders of the nation, but also a time to consider the path forward in expanding our realization of those ideals today.

The America 250 Connecticut Commission was established to commemorate the July 4, 1776, founding of the United States throughout the state. The website for America 250 Connecticut outlines resources and themes, includes links to local contacts, and has access to a statewide calendar of events.

Activities and celebrations are being planned throughout 2026 in nearly every Connecticut village, town, and city. Below is the information for the celebrations happening in the communities MSCF serves.
