Mission Statement: The Prudence Crandall Center, Inc (PCC) will provide caring support, beneficial information and individual advocacy to women, men and children who are victims of domestic violence; provide emergency shelter to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence; and educate our community to reduce and ultimately eliminate domestic violence.
In the United States alone, a woman is beaten every 13 seconds. The needs for assistance by victims of domestic violence range from the most immediate need for safety and shelter to short and long range needs for counseling, advocacy and therapy. Not only do victims of different types of domestic violence have different needs, the same need may require a different approach depending on the circumstances. To accurately serve victims of domestic violence, a diversity of service options must be available.
The Prudence Crandall Center will assist and support individuals affected by domestic violence in finding alternatives to violence in their relationships.
To achieve it's goal, the Center will assist victims of domestic violence by:
- providing a toll free 24 hour hotline,
- providing crisis intervention counseling,
- providing individual counseling sessions,
- facilitating three weekly support groups,
- providing child care during all group times,
- providing accurate information and referrals in the area, and
- providing advocacy with other social service agencies, medical professionals, the criminal and civil court systems and other organizations.
