Mission Statement: The mission of "Meals for the Needy" is to provide food assistance and other related services to those in need in greater Bristol.

"Meals for the Needy", Bristol's oldest soup kitchen, is now in its 23rd year of service to the residents of greater Bristol. Since we began in June 1982 we estimate that over 650,000 meals have been served. Throughout the years we have expanded the services that we provide and "Meals for the Needy" now includes:

  • A four evening per week soup kitchen
  • An emergency food pantry
  • The distribution of Thanksgiving turkeys and food baskets
  • A Clothing Bank
  • A Christmas Day dinner
  • A restitution site for our local Juvenile Review Board and court system
  • The distribution of back-to-school supplies
  • The distribution of Easter Day dinner baskets

"Meals for the Needy" is staffed by over 300 faithful and dedicated volunteers representing local churches, civic groups, businesses, schools and organizations. They are truly the heart and soul of this outreach to those in need.
